My coming to work for Markel was an easy fit. After years of success in Sales, Marketing and Advertising along with owning, breeding and showing horses for years having the opportunity to work for Markel Equine and Ag Insurance feels natural. The first horse in my life was a palomino named Ginger. She belonged to a neighbor who let me ride her as long as I could catch her in the pasture and get a halter on her, which was challenge at age 7. Fast forward to 1989 I started taking riding lessons, I did some team penning and pleasure classes. Then one day I happened to be home for lunch switched on ESPN and they were showing the reining at The Congress, which was a life changer. I located a local reining horse trainer and started taking lessons. Not long after I bought my first horse.
I met my wife at a horse show. Katie introduced me to the hunter jumper world that she originally came from and I introduced her to western horses. Horses and the Western Lifestyle became our joint passion. Katie soon was showing Western pleasure horses, while I was showing reiners and cutters. Member of the AQHA, USEF, NCHA and lifetime member of the NRHA. I have also been actively involved in the horse industry as well as an owner and breeder.

- Managed the Half Arab Reining Futurity at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show
- Member of the Board of Directors of the NRHA for 2 years
- Chaired the Marketing Committee of the NRHA
- Sat on the Affiliates Committee of the NRHA
- Chaired the Animal Welfare Committee of the NRHA
