About Nancy
A life without horses really isn’t much of a life. If you share that same sentiment, then you and I should probably talk. Because, even if we don’t end up doing business together, there’s a really good chance we’ll end up friends. That’s what happens with horse people. You share a couple of cups of coffee, have a few conversations, and before long you’re sharing life’s path together.
If you’re wondering about my background, I grew up as a typical farm kid, riding and showing horses before I was tall enough to see over the arena fences where I practiced, and the doors on the stalls I had to muck every day.
I feel blessed to have been raised around animals, and livestock, and agriculture. It’s a way of life that teaches you values passed on from generation to generation. I’ve lived my entire life by the Cowboy Code of honesty, integrity, respect, gratitude, and the appreciation that comes from a hard day’s work, as well as the belief that you always stand up for what’s right, even if you’re the only one standing.
\When it was time to leave home, I became a Cowboy. An Oklahoma State University Cowboy. I majored in Animal Science, proudly represented my University as a member of the World Champion Horse Judging Team, learned as much as I could in the classroom, and learned even more about life when class was over. After graduation, diploma in-hand, It was time to set course for the future and that path took me directly to horse barns.
My equine professional journey began in Fort Worth, Texas working for the National Cutting Horse Association and, later, the American Paint Horse Association. It was baptism through fire, working with everyone from high dollar corporate sponsors to backyard horse owners, and everyone in between. It was the perfect way to start my career.
What came next was the opportunity of a lifetime, I was offered a position to join the most respected animal nutrition company in the world, Purina. Suddenly, the little girl who once loped horses every chance she could, was working alongside the greatest minds in animal nutrition, veterinary science, marketing, branding, and more. I learned. I grew. And I was afforded the opportunity to work closely with leaders from every sector of the equine world.
The Purina experience turned me into the equine professional I am today, providing me with the insights and knowledge that comes from working with everyone from single stall horse enthusiasts to the organizers of equestrian events for the Beijing Olympics.
As a little girl growing up in a small town, I could never have imagined the life I’ve been so very fortunate to live. I’ve worked with and become friends with world champions, hall-of-famers, legendary Thoroughbred trainers, Olympians, Hollywood celebrities, and just as importantly, everyday horse owners who treasure their every moment in the barn and in the saddle.
Every day I’m grateful and I try to give back to the equine world I love in every way I can. And while I may be guilty of a few sins here or there, ingratitude is not one of them.
So, that’s my story. That’s who I am. I’m sure I could help with whatever you need to better protect your operation and your horses. If you’d like to have a conversation and see if we’re a good fit, drop me an email, or even better give me a call. Because, after all, you can never have too many friends in the horse world.
