Sebastian Rice

Seb Rice joined Markel in January 2024 as a Senior Underwriter, Head of Business Development for UK & Europe in our Trade Credit team. He has 20 years' experience in a plethora of underwriting roles, however at Markel, he is currently responsible for developing Markel’s Trade Credit presence in the UK national market and in continental Europe, leveraging existing broker relationships and identifying and targeting opportunities through his commercial skills and market knowledge.

Seb holds BA (Hons) in History from the University of Leeds. He lives in Surrey with his wife Alexis and two children, Amelie and Joseph, and plays football and goes running in his spare time. He also loves to watch his children play sport in the evenings and at weekends and coaches the local grassroots U9s football team. His favourite book is ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ by Alexandre Dumas, and he went to the same school (and had the same music teacher) as Ed Sheeran, but unfortunately that’s where the similarities end.
