Senior Underwriter, Life Science
Robert Hannaford joined Markel in July 2024 as a Senior Life Science Underwriter in the International Casualty team.
He began his career in 2013 and has dedicated over a decade to specialising in underwriting Life Science, Clinical Trials and multinational placements across various industries. Prior to Markel, he spent 11 years as an underwriter at Newline Group, where he provided a high-quality bespoke service and collaborated with overseas offices to provide global solutions for clients across the Life Science portfolio.
He is responsible for the development and build-out of Markel’s Life Science portfolio in London, ensuring long-term profitable growth. This includes identifying and assessing risk exposures to provide high-quality, tailored solutions for life science companies globally.
He holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Economics from the University of Westminster and is a Chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute. Rob lives in Hertfordshire and likes to cook, travel, play golf, football and his favourite sport, padel, in his spare time.
