Phil Amlot joined Markel in November 2010 as a senior underwriter in our Trade Credit division. He began his career at Barclays Bank in the mid-1980s. Phil has over 30 years’ experience writing Trade Credit insurance business in the London Market, starting at London Bridge Finance and then Coface, where he wrote both Trade Credit and Surety lines.
With Markel, he spent 6 years in the US establishing the Trade Credit team. He is currently responsible for managing the underwriting and development of Trade Credit business globally, through teams in London, Dubai, Singapore and the US.
Phil has a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Phil lives in London with his wife and two sons and enjoys the gym, concerts and watching rugby, which is his favourite sport. It has been a while since Phil played rugby, so for now he is content with just watching!
