Nick Rugg

Nick Rugg joined Markel in December 2014 as a Financial Institutions Underwriter in our Professional & Financial Risks division. Nick has over 20 years’ experience in underwriting, beginning his career as an Underwriting Assistant at Alea Group in 2004. In 2006, Nick moved to Arch Europe in the Property team and after a couple of years moved in to the Financial Lines team at Arch, underwriting Commercial D&O and Financial Institutions. In 2014 he moved to Markel International as a Financial Institutions Underwriter. Nick is now the Head of Fintech and Investment Management within the Financial Institutions team, responsible for oversight, strategy, product development and underwriting of the Fintech and Investment Management portfolios, and manages four underwriters within the team.

Nick lives in Essex with his wife and two children, and enjoys running in his spare time. Nick takes a keen interest in all sports and the arts, regularly attending live sport, music and comedy events.
