Juliet Redfern joined Markel in December 2008 to head up the Equine & Livestock team in London. Juliet began her career at Hughes-Gibb (the bloodstock specialist broking arm of Willis) on the grad scheme in the early 90s, moving to Hiscox in 1998 as Bloodstock Deputy Class Underwriter, then to XL in 2002 also writing Bloodstock and Livestock. Juliet has over 30 years’ experience in the specialist Equine and Livestock insurance sector and is Chair of the Equine and Livestock panel at Lloyd’s.

Juliet is currently responsible for the Equine and Livestock team’s overall direction. Juliet and her team are intent on excellent customer service and strive to be the best Equine and Livestock insurer in the market. She has extensive broker, client and bloodstock expert relationships across the globe.

Juliet holds a BA (Hons) in Social Policy from the University of Exeter. She lives in London with her husband Mark, and they have two daughters. Juliet has a life-long passion for horses and has been extremely lucky to combine the subject matter of her hobby with her job. Juliet loves tennis, playing 3-4 times a week and is captain of the ladies first team at her club in London. Her favourite book is Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan.
