David has been in the industry for over 30 years and has led underwriting teams at QBE and Travelers. He started his insurance career at SVB Syndicates in 1993 as a Business Analyst before progressing on the underwriting side of the business.
He first joined Markel in July 2015 as Head of Professional Indemnity and is now Managing Director of our Professional & Financial Risks (PFR) and Cyber division. The division is made up of six distinct teams – Cyber & Technology, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, Management Liability, Warranty & Indemnity and Media & Entertainment.
David holds a Diploma in Management Studies and an honours degree in Mathematics from the University of Brighton. He lives in Surrey with his wife and three (adult) children. He is a keen tennis player and follows the fortunes of Fulham FC in his spare time. His favourite animal is his English Springer Spaniel, Putney.
