Christopher Burgess

Chris Burgess joined Markel in 2019 as Manager of the London Cyber Team, and was promoted to Director of Cyber in 2023.

Chris has worked within the insurance industry since 2004. He spent the first decade of his career within the Financial Lines segment of insurance, underwriting D&O, Pension Trustee Liability, Crime, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institution and Employment Practice Liability lines of business. Chris went on to hold a variety of management roles at his previous employer, AIG, including UK SME Manager, Regional Underwriting Manager, Team Manager, and then finally UK Cyber Leader at AIG UK. Chris has worked on a broad range of product segments within the aforementioned classes of insurance, including SME and Major Account business, UK and International domiciled business, and has worked on large Multinational Program business.

He is now Director of the Cyber and Tech PI teams at Markel.
