
Managing Director, International Claims
Chris O'Shea joined Markel in January 2017 initially as Head of Reinsurance & Special Projects Claims. He began his career at Guy Carpenter before moving to QBE focusing on International Casualty & Surety Treaty claims. Chris has over 25 years' claims experience in the London Market having previously served as Head of Claims for Montpelier at Lloyd’s (subsequently part of Sompo) and Ariel Re. Chris is Chair of the LMA Complex Claims Group, tasked with managing the market response to cross-class claims events. He is Deputy Chair of the LMACC which is the most senior LMA claims group. At Markel, Chris is responsible for the Wholesale Claims function as well as overall responsibility for the management and oversight of all Markel International claims.
Chris is a CEDR qualified Mediator. He lives in Essex with his wife and two daughters. He is a keen golfer and supporter of Tottenham Hotspur. When he has time - and is not driving his daughters to clubs - he enjoys walking his dog, Buddy, is a keen movie enthusiast, and enjoys playing poker.
