Charlie Richardson

Charlie Richardson joined Markel in September 2021 as Head of Renewable Energy Underwriting. Charlie has over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with 21 of those within the renewable energy sector. He started his renewable energy career with four years on the broking and client management side of the business at Nsure Renewables, before transitioning to an Underwriter role at GCube Underwriting Ltd, where he went on to hold a number of senior onshore underwriting roles, as well as responsibility for the development and successful deployment of additional product lines over a 12-year tenure. After GCube, he went on to spend three years leading the Travelers Renewable Energy underwriting team, before moving to Markel in 2021.

Charlie’s focus is on underwriting strategy, business development and the continued growth of the Markel Renewable Energy product line.

Charlie attended Worthing Sixth Form College and Durrington High School. He lives in West Sussex and has three children ranging in age from 3 to 21. His main passion, outside of renewable energy (of course), is cars. He is also an avid reader of fiction books and is always looking for new recommendations.
