Wedding shows are perfect events to meet engaged couples. We’ve put together a list of tips to help you stand out from the crowd and draw couples in to your booth.
5 tips to drive traffic to your booth at a wedding show
-
Create a unique activity.
Activities tend to draw more people to your booth. For example, if a bride or groom provides their contact information, they can spin a wheel for a prize or they can play beanbag toss. Another idea is to offer a massage chair or a foot massage machine because everyone knows walking around an exhibit hall is tiring. You can then use this opportunity to promote your services.
-
Send invitations.
Wedding show organizers almost always have a list of attendees who have signed up for the expo ahead of time and have agreed to be contacted. Be pro-active and mail or email these couples an invitation to visit your booth with an incentive to stop by. If they bring the invitation with them or mention that they received it, you can enter them into a drawing or give them a small prize, such as a bag of gourmet popcorn (or even discounts off of your services).
-
Offer a giveaway.
It is in your best interest to capture information from couples who have visited your booth and are interested in your venue. To do this, create an appealing giveaway, such as a spa treatment basket or a wine and cheese basket and display it prominently. Or, another idea is to offer discounts or freebies at your venue, such as offering a $1 off plate discount or by throwing in a free chocolate fountain if the couple books their wedding at the show. In order to win, the couple must enter their name in the drawing. You now have their contact information to follow up with them after the show.
-
Organize a scavenger hunt.
Seek out other vendors who are exhibiting at the show and partner with them to organize a scavenger hunt. Create a map of all the vendors participating and make sure you promote it in the wedding expo brochure and at each participating booth. When a couple stops at each participating booth and completes an activity – they receive a stamp. After getting all the stamps they are entered into a drawing for a large prize, such as an iPad. This allows you to get more visitors, possibly ones who may not have reached your booth otherwise.
-
Be approachable.
If you have the option, select a corner booth. Corner booths get more traffic because they are highly visible. Also, make sure your booth is professional and appealing. Shiny objects attract attention as well as the colors red, black and blue. Red carpets are inviting and draw people in. Mirrors are popular because people like checking out their reflections. It's important to also stand in front of your booth, smile and greet people. This will make you much more approachable than sitting behind your table.
We hope these tips help drive traffic to your booth. After you gain your clients, make sure your clients are protected with wedding insurance.
